WELCOME

Crafting, in one form or another, has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. Some of my earliest memories are hand-stitching clothes for my dolls when I was around seven years old and also being taught how to knit a cover for a wooden clothes hanger in a lovely shade of mauve by my maternal grandmother.

Throughout my teenage years, when I wasn’t riding my horses, I spent countless hours stitching long stitch and tapestry projects, cross-stitching, knitting, and tie-dyeing clothes. My hands were rarely still, and that hasn’t changed.

​

My introduction to patchwork and quilting came in my twenties when a close friend was expecting a baby, and I wanted to create something truly special for her. Thanks to a project I found in a Family Circle baby magazine, a lifelong passion for quilting was born.

 

Fast forward to 2014, when I met Alison, a fellow cricket mum. As team manager, I spent every game at the scoring table while Alison stitched away on her latest English Paper Piecing project. A fast friendship quickly developed, and before long, a plan was set in motion.

In October 2015, Alison and I opened The Quilt Shop. We had no idea what we were doing, but it sounded like fun—and it certainly was! For ten years, we worked side by side, often spending more time together than with our husbands.          Together, we built a bright, welcoming, and inspiring store, designed numerous patterns, travelled to America five times, exhibited at quilt shows across Australia, and shared countless memorable experiences. I am proud to say that    Alison remains one of my closest friends.

 

In 2025, my husband and I left Melbourne and “retired” to the beach. While I loved the change of pace, something was missing. My creative spirit simply refused to switch off, and I soon found myself overflowing with ideas. It became clear that I missed the colour, texture, and creativity of the quilting world and still had plenty to contribute.

And so, Blooming Stitches was born.
